Varies globally depending on genetics, environment, or exposure.
Etiology & Risk Factors
- JAK2, CALR, or MPL mutations.
Clinical Symptoms
- Often asymptomatic
- thrombosis (DVT/Stroke) or atypical bleeding
- erythromelalgia.
Clinical Approach
Diagnosis
- Platelets > 450,000
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Mutation testing.
Management
- Hydroxyurea
- Aspirin.
Complications
- Transformation to Acute Leukemia or Myelofibrosis.
