  • Mycobacterium leprae.

  • Hypopigmented skin patches with loss of sensation
  • thickened nerves.

Clinical Approach

Diagnosis

  • Skin slit smear (acid-fast bacilli).

Management

  • Multi-drug therapy (Rifampin
  • Dapsone
  • Clofazimine).

Complications

  • Permanent nerve damage
  • limb deformities.
