Epidemiology

Varies globally depending on genetics, environment, or exposure.

Etiology & Risk Factors

  • Idiopathic, T-cell dysfunction causing podocyte effacement.

Clinical Symptoms

  • Sudden onset severe edema
  • massive proteinuria.

Clinical Approach

Diagnosis

  • Electron microscopy shows podocyte foot process effacement.

Management

  • Corticosteroids (excellent response).

Complications

  • Infections
  • thrombosis.
