Epidemiology

Varies globally depending on genetics, environment, or exposure.

Etiology & Risk Factors

  • S. aureus exfoliative toxins A and B.

Clinical Symptoms

  • Fever
  • generalized erythema
  • massive sloughing of upper epidermis
  • positive Nikolsky sign.

Clinical Approach

Diagnosis

  • Clinical
  • Blood cultures.

Management

  • IV Antibiotics (Nafcillin
  • Oxacillin)
  • Supportive care.

Complications

  • Sepsis
  • dehydration.
