Etiology & Risk Factors

  • Rupture of a berry aneurysm (anterior communicating artery).

Clinical Symptoms

  • 'Worst headache of my life' (thunderclap)
  • nuchal rigidity
  • photophobia.

Clinical Approach

Diagnosis

  • Non-contrast CT Head
  • Lumbar Puncture (xanthochromia).

Management

  • Surgical clipping or endovascular coiling
  • Nimodipine (prevent vasospasm).

Complications

  • Cerebral vasospasm
  • hydrocephalus
  • death.
