Varies globally depending on genetics, environment, or exposure.

Etiology & Risk Factors

  • Salmonella Typhi.

Clinical Symptoms

  • Stepwise high fever
  • rose spots on trunk
  • abdominal pain
  • relative bradycardia.

Clinical Approach

Diagnosis

  • Blood culture
  • Widal test (historically).

Management

  • Fluoroquinolones
  • Ceftriaxone
  • Azithromycin.

Complications

  • Intestinal hemorrhage/perforation.
