Clinical Significance

Oncofetal glycoprotein. Used for screening and monitoring of hepatocellular carcinoma and germ cell tumors.

Causes of High

  • Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)
  • Non-seminomatous germ cell tumors (testicular/ovarian)
  • Pregnancy (neural tube defects)
  • Liver cirrhosis / active hepatitis

  • Normal finding
