Clinical Significance

Water-soluble form of bilirubin conjugated by the liver. Elevation suggests hepatobiliary disease rather than hemolysis.

Causes of High

  • Biliary obstruction (Gallstones, Tumor)
  • Hepatitis
  • Cirrhosis
  • Dubin-Johnson syndrome
  • Rotor syndrome

Causes of Low

  • Normal finding
