Clinical Significance
Primary copper-carrying protein in the blood. Characteristically profoundly low in Wilson's disease due to defective incorporation of copper into the apoprotein.
Causes of High
- Acute inflammation (Acute phase reactant)
- Pregnancy
- Estrogen therapy
Causes of Low
- Wilson's Disease
- Severe malnutrition
- Nephrotic syndrome (urinary loss)
