0.5 - 4.0 ng/mL/hr

Pediatric

Varies heavily by age ng/mL/hr

Clinical Significance

Enzyme secreted by the juxtaglomerular apparatus. The Aldosterone-to-Renin Ratio (ARR) > 20 is the screening test of choice for Primary Hyperaldosteronism.

Causes of High

  • Secondary hyperaldosteronism (Renal artery stenosis)
  • Dehydration
  • Addison's disease
  • Diuretic therapy

Causes of Low

  • Primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn's syndrome)
  • High sodium intake
