Calculated as (Serum Iron / TIBC) x 100. Best screening test for hereditary hemochromatosis (saturation > 45% is highly suggestive).

- Sideroblastic anemia
Causes of Low
- Iron deficiency anemia
- Anemia of chronic disease
- Pregnancy
