Clinical Significance

Massive proteinuria (>3.5g / day) is the hallmark of Nephrotic Syndrome, accompanied by hypoalbuminemia and severe edema.

Causes of High

  • Glomerulonephritis
  • Nephrotic Syndrome
  • Preeclampsia
  • Diabetic nephropathy
  • Multiple myeloma (Bence-Jones proteins)

Causes of Low

  • Normal finding
