Storage

Refrigerate at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze.

Schedule

4 doses (infants) or 1 dose (adults)

Indications

  • Prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumonia.
  • Routine for infants, elderly, and immunocompromised.

Target Ages:

2, 4, 6, 12-15 monthsAdults >= 65High-risk 19-64

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindications

  • Severe allergic reaction to diphtheria toxoid

Precautions

  • Moderate or severe acute illness with or without fever.

Clinical Information

Effectiveness

Highly effective in preventing invasive disease caused by the 20 serotypes.

Patient Counseling

  • Mild arm soreness is expected.
  • Take acetaminophen for fever or pain.
